He was predeceased by: his mother Marie Louise Buerklin; and his stepfather Edward Peterson. He is survived by: his daughter Leslie Teeters of Keokuk; his grandsons, Quinton Banes, Marcus Banes and Ryan Banes; and his great grandchildren, Madison Mae Banes, Leightyn Marie Banes, Halleigh Dean Banes, Brynlee Mae Banes, Allison and Tranetta.
Memorials may be made to the City of Christmas.
