He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Roger Hempen and Luella Hempen (Blaise); his wife Karen Shutt of Argyle; his siblings, Robert Hempen of Keokuk, Cindy Stanley of Keokuk, Connie Martin of Douglasville, GA and Lori Bloom of Montrose, IA; his children, Kenny Hempen (Tracy) of Argyle and Tonya O'Neal (Chuck) of Hillsboro, Oregon; his grandchildren, Courtney Wollbrink (Ethan), Kenny Hempen, Jr. (Carissa), Jennifer Skarin (Kevin), Josiah Hempen (Lena), Luke Hempen, Abigail Hempen, Audrey Hempen, Lydia Hempen, Charlie O'Neal (Presleigh), Jordanna Kiaunis (Kale), Joshua O'Neal and Karen O'Neal; and his great grandchildren, Henry, Kate, Mary Wollbrink, Ruth, Evelyn, Roger Hempen, Julia, David Skarin, Samantha, Cora, Hazel, Carl O'Neal and Emma Kiaunis.
