He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald William and Veva Doris Smith (Headley); his sisters, Eula Adams and Marian Carlson; his siblings-in-law, Robert Guge, Robert Adams, Donald Carlson, Ray Esbeck and Julie Mortensen; and his parents-in-law, Alvin, Lydia and Erna Mortensen.
He is survived by: his children, Carol Lynette (Dave) of Dedham and Kevin Eugene (Sheri) of Neola; his wife Joyce Smith of Elk Horn; his son Craig Smith (Dani McDaniel) of Walnut; his grandchildren, Kalee Vonnahme (Jason), Kelsi Wirzbach (Ben), Karly Chmelka (Caleb) and Kaleb Smith; his great grandchildren, Hannah, Hadleigh, Haylin Vonnahme, Jackson and Millie Wirzbach; his stepgrandson Adam Huey (Zenaida); his stepgreat-grandchildren, Birdie and Zoey Huey; his sister Norma Guge of Kearney, NE; and his siblings-in-law, Shirley Esbeck of Elk Horn and Lynn Mortensen of Kimballton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
