She was predeceased by: her parents, Isaac Swenson and Bette Swenson (Baber); her husband Dennis Schmidt; and her sister Linda Heinen. She is survived by: her daughter Denise; her granddaughters, Jane and Josie; Michael Heinen (Katie), Brooklyn, Morgan, David Heinen (Melisa) and Alexander.

Visitation was held on Friday, December 5th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Rexwinkel Funeral Home (107 12th St SE, Le Mars, IA 51031). A memorial service was held on Friday, December 5th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
