He was predeceased by : his parents, Marion Carruthers and Ruby Carruthers (Bingaman); his wife Dorothy; his sons, Grayling Ben Carruthers and Todd Wesley Carruthers; and his siblings, Neil (Norma) and Buell (Jody).

He is survived by : his daughter Krystal (Fred Perales) of Gonzales, Texas; his grandchildren, Whitlee Dorothy Josephine Whitlow and Cody Levi Carruthers; and his great grandchild Arturo Carruthers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Columbia EMS, the Alzheimer's Association or to the Columbia United Methodist Church.
