He was predeceased by: his parents, Rex Stanton and Blanche Stanton (Freerksen); and his brothers, Ron and Craig. He is survived by: his daughter Rhiannon Christensen (Jarrod) of Iowa City; his grandson Nolan; his daughter Staci Stanton of Knoxville; his siblings, Mark, Darrel (Elaine) and Cheryl; and his sister-in-law Nancy.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the memorial fund established on his website page.
