He is survived by: his wife Pam; his children, Gene Schmitz of Hartford, Kirstie Paquin (Anthony), Logan Schmitz and Angie Purdy (Robert) of Waterloo; his grandchildren, Allen Purdy (Morgan), Rachel Purdy (Holden), Robin Slocum (Chase) and Reagan Purdy; his son Mark Schmitz; his grandchildren, Silver, Stone, Sanibel and Steele Schmitz; his daughter Christine Roth of Gays Mills, WI; his grandchildren, Emellia Sims, Kai Sims (McKenzie), Cameren Sims, Elyse Sims, Ellasyn Sims and Howard Roth III; his siblings, Larry Schmitz (Kris) of Kansas City, Marilyn Dunkelberger (Dan) of Littleton, IA and Joe Schmitz; his sisters-in-law, Melva Schmitz of Missouri and Linda Schmitz of Missouri; Minnie Pearl. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren.
