He was predeceased by : his parents, Earl Newbrough and Louise Newbrough (Struchen); his wife Dorothy Jean Johnson Newbrough; his son Randy Griffel; and his brother Daryl Newbrough.

He is survived by : his children, Connie Clark (Andy) and RoeMayne "Butch" Griffel (Diane); and his sister Judy Smith (Jim). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
