It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bernice Margaret Kout of Lawler, Iowa, who passed away on September 21, 2025, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Mueterthies and Julia Mueterthies (Reicks); her husband Frank Kout; her son-in-law Lloyd Prilipp; her brothers, Clarence Mueterthies (Madonna), Alfred Mueterthies and Leon Mueterthies (Goldie); and her in-laws, Dale Schluetter and John Kout (Helen).
She is survived by: her children, Matt Kout (Deb) of Las Vegas, NV, Elaine Prilipp of Bettendorf, IA, Diane Kout of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Ann Lester (Butch) of Ames, Leo Kout of Lawler, Dale Kout of Lawler, Janet Samson (Tom) of Ames and Bill Kout (Julianne) of Lawler; her grandchildren, Kelli Hart (Kevin), Michelle Morrison (Tim), Christopher Prilipp (Vicki), Anthony Prilipp (Tiffany), Crystal Gilbert (Kevin Kosierowski), Nicole Gilbert-Patin (Aaron), Mark Lester (Danielle), Greg Kout, Jordan Mauzey (Ronnie), Ashton Schwickerath (Jesse), Alex Samson (Caroline), Grant Samson (Jake Ashton) and Sam Kout (Brinna); her sister Delores Schluetter; and her sister-in-law Joan Mueterthies. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 24th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory (101 W Main St, New Hampton, IA 50659). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church (2940 IA-24, Lawler, IA 52154).
