He was predeceased by : his parents, Richard Unwin and Verna Unwin (Rylander). He is survived by : his wife Judy Scharff; his sons, Lee Unwin (Jill) of New Glarus, WI and Kent Unwin (Jennifer) of Eldridge, IA; his grandsons, Carter and Miles Unwin; and his siblings, Sue Asay, Marcia Unwin (Chelle), Betty Brieser (Dan) and Tom Unwin.
