He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Sr. Sitzmann and Agnes Sitzmann (Carel); his wife Barbara O'Bryan; his sons, PJ Sitzmann and Russell Dean Sitzmann; his siblings, Edward Jr. Sitzmann (Aggie), Bill Sitzmann (Betty), Mary Pniak (Edward), Dale Sitzmann (Delphine), Howard Sitzmann, Margie Gilligan (Bob), Alfred Sitzmann (Rosie), Stanley Sitzmann (Louise), Germaine Gengler (Gerald), Annette Sieverding (Harold) and Joyce; and his brother-in-law Jack Reuter.

He is survived by: his children, Todd Sitzmann (Lisa), Terri Holzman (Russ), Lynn Dull (Dan), Annette Vlotho (Jody), Mitch Sitzmann (Annette), Kim Pick (Todd), Kyle Sitzmann (Lisa), Bill Sitzmann (Valerie), Betty Harms (Larry), Gary Sitzmann (Nikki), Corey Sitzmann (Becky) and Eric Sitzmann (Kelly); his sister Alyce Reuter; and his sister-in-law Rita Sitzmann. He is also survived by 37 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

A rosary was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 3:45 PM at the All Saints Catholic Parish - St. Joseph (605 Plymouth St NE, Le Mars, IA 51031). Visitation was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A prayer was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
