With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Essie Woughter Cleone (Leon, Iowa), born in Decatur, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 1, 2025 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Nelson Bay and Goldie Pearl Shields (Briner); her daughter Deborah; her son-in-law Daniel Wilson; her grandson Corey Wright; and her siblings, Betty (Lawrence Wetzler), Alice (Harvey Herrold), Hazel (Hugh Newton), Joe (Ramadean Shields), Edgar (Beth Shields) and Jack (Lucille Shields).
She is survived by: her husband Tom Woughter of Grand River; her children, Ed (Kathie Woughter), Steve (Linda Woughter), Georgia, Terri (John Brown) and Kathy (Andrew Miller); her grandchildren, Zeb, Joseph, Thomas (Nathalia), Michael, Chuck, Daniel, Jessica (Brian), Melissa (Brice), Eric and Sean; and her sister Virginia (Stephan Howard). She is also survived by sixteen great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Slade - O'Donnell Funeral Home (103 NE Mill St, Leon, IA 50144).
