With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Lawrence Opfer (Leon, Iowa), born in Fairbury, Nebraska, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 30, 2025 at the age of 99. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his siblings, Floyd (Verna), Roy (Margaret), Raymond (Wilma), Clarence, Elmer (Esther) and Mable; his in-laws, John, Marie Hurd, Ada, Cleo Bryant, Lauren, Florence Hurd, Eldon Hayes and Frank Drohner; and his siblings' children, Pat Opfer and Kip Opfer.
He is survived by: his wife Anita Hurd; his sons, John of Pleasanton, IA and Larry Lee (Christine) of Colfax, IA; his grandchildren, Angie Hall (Alan) of Newnan, GA, Eva Van Wyk (Ryan) of Colfax, IA, Elissa Opfer of New Orleans, LA and Ethan Opfer of Des Moines, IA; his great grandchildren, Ellie, Kayla, Mark Hall, Riley and Emily Van Wyk; his granddaughter Valerie Arnold; and his sister-in-law Lorena Drohner. He is also survived by many other relatives and close friends.
A memorial fund has been established by the Family.
