It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Stanley Leo David Birchem of Leon, Iowa, born in Sisseton, South Dakota, who passed away on April 17, 2023, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor John and Hazel Mary Birchem (O'Brien); his mother-in-law Lupe Novak; his siblings, Dave Birchem, Dorothy Birchem, Rachel Retterath, Anita Aldentaler and Jane Birchem; and his brothers-in-law, Dan Bolef and Joe Pletka.

He is survived by: his children, Mark and Missy; his wife Pat Birchem of Leon; his children, Patricia Birchem of Wakefield, MA, Curtis Boothe of Leon, Pat and Jenny Birchem of Urbandale, IA; his grandchildren, Caleb Birchem, Isabella Birchem, Raegan Boothe, Carter Boothe, Matthew Boothe, Sam Boothe, Kyla Birchem, Kale Birchem and Kellen Birchem; and his siblings, Regina Birchem of St. Joseph, MN, Marie Pletka of Omaha, NE, Mike and Sandi Birchem of Mason City, IA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends.

A memorial fund has been established by the family.
