He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Donald Burns and Josephine M. Burns (Brawner); his wife Litree; his children, Tessa Burns and Chance Burns; his stepchildren, Tiara Walls, Amanda Porter and Clayton Moore; his grandchildren, Ruby, Angelo, Makayla, Kymeir, Henry, Quinten, Kamaya, Deion, Messiah, Clayana, Dalaysia, Kastiella and Kai; and his siblings, Evonne Johnson, Jerry Burns and Tina Burns.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 11:30 AM. A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service (2720 Muscatine Ave, Iowa City, IA 52240). A graveside service was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery (34024 Veterans Memorial Dr, Adel, IA 50003).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his memory for Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
