He was predeceased by: his parents, Bryan Davis and Lucy Davis (Trease); his wife Eleanor "Sissy" Ervin; his siblings, Albert Davis and Farrell Dayton; and his half-brothers, Ray, Glenn, Burt, Clyde and Dale Phipps.

He is survived by: his children, Bryan Davis (Donna) of Grinnell, IA and Kathy Dayton (David) of Brooklyn, IA; his grandchildren, Allison Utech (Kevin) of Grinnell, IA, Brianne Goetzinger of Grinnell, IA and Molly Dayton of Brooklyn, IA; and his great grandchildren, Davis, Brooks Utech and Rieslynn Goetzinger (Ella Jump) of Malcom, IA..
