He is survived by: his sons, Steve Berns (Leanne) of West Union, David Berns (Barb) of Ankeny and John Berns (Bev) of Decorah; his grandchildren, Charlie, Emily, Mary, Shana and Brandon; and his sister-in-law Inez Berns. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
