He was predeceased by : his parents, Maynard Tantow and Gladys Tantow (Wise); his brother Paul Tantow; his brothers-in-law, Edwin "Buck" Beenken, Larry Carver and Ronald Stromley; and his niece Carol Tantow.

He is survived by : his wife Evelyn; his sister-in-law Norma Carver (Mahlon); his nephew Chad Beenken; his nieces, Tina Mathahs (Joe) and Nancy Halfpap (Dave); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Kativa, Skylar, Rain and Noah.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel (310 1st Ave N, Clear Lake, IA 50428). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
