He is survived by: his children, Shelly DeMara (Packy) of Sioux City, IA, Kelly McGathy (Gary) of Wichita, KS and Jim Thies (Lisa) of Mapleton, IA; his grandchildren, Amanda (Jake), Alyssa (Brayden), Phil (Dawn), Chris (Raelynn) and Nick (Kourtney); his great grandchildren, Joanna, Nash, Wyatt, Allison, Oliva, Chance, Parker, Hazel, Haylie and Annabelle; his brother Gary Thies of Mapleton, IA; and his nieces, Carrie Huff and Laurie Johnson. He is also survived by extended family and dear friends.
