He is survived by: his mother Alvira Schwarz (Vaske) of Marcus, IA; his children, Jaime Weitl (Matt) of Carroll, IA, Steve Schwarz of Le Mars, IA and Scott Schwarz (Karey) of Clive, IA; his grandchildren, Kaden Weitl of Carroll, IA, Sarah Weitl of Carroll, IA and Nathen Weitl of Carroll, IA; and his siblings, Ann Spooner of Spencer, IA, Mary Koerselman (Nick) of Maurice, IA, Jean Schmidt of Milford, IA, Sara Paine (Scott) of College Place, WA, John Schwarz (Connie) of Cherokee, IA, Bill Schwarz (Kim) of Cleghorn, IA and Leo Schwarz (Lori) of Marcus, IA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. A vigil service will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 5:30 PM at the Fisch Funeral Home (310 Fulton St, Remsen, IA 51050). A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the Holy Name Catholic Cemetery (201 E Highland Dr, Marcus, IA 51035). A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the Marcus Community Center (319 N Main St, Marcus, IA 51035).
In lieu of gifts and flowers memorials may be directed to the family for a cause to be decided at a later date.
