Though Eugene may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Portz and Carmalita Portz (Kirk). He is survived by: his wife Leanne Kay Spacek; and his children, Tami Skinner (Jeff), Gina Phenix (David), David Updegraff (Angela Taylor-Vanderpool), Suzanne Webster and Thomas Updegraff III (Megan). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established for the Marengo Public Library.
