He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Schuettpelz and Laura Schuettpelz (Noltensmeier); his wife Hazel Harlene Beresford; his sister Irene Larson (Kenneth); and his son-in-law Chuck Bammert.

He is survived by: his children, Debra Offerman (Kim) of Delran, David Schuettpelz (Renae) of Cedar Rapids and Denise Bammert of Marion; his grandchildren, Natasha Offerman (Andy Seyffert), Nicole Offerman, Michael Offerman, Isabella Bammert and Andrew Reed; and his stepgrandchildren, Jacob, Joseph, Jayson and Brei.

Memorials in Erwin's memory may be directed to Hospice of Mercy or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
