He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice Whitman and Ivadene Whitman (Kelpien). He is survived by: his wife Diane Whitman; his daughters, Laura Whitman-Workman (Candace) of Julian and LeAnn Struchen (Brian) of Marion; his grandson Kylar Whitman; his stepgrandchildren, Cameron, Chelsea, Sebastian and Eon; his sister Gaye VanHamme (Dennis) of Grinnell, Iowa; his sister-in-law Barb Connell of Northwood; and his niece Tammie Gregory (Roger).

All guests are respectfully requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gary's memory may be directed to UnityPoint Hospice.
