It is with sadness that the passing of James Marie Donahue (Marion, Iowa) is shared. James, born on September 21, 1929, passed away on September 6, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
James will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around her. Friends and family will honor James by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence she had in their lives. Though James is no longer present, the bonds she created and the experiences shared will endure. James’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew her.
She was predeceased by: her parents, James Donahue and Mary Donahue (Hallagan); and her sisters, Margaret (Peggy), Brien (Robert), Patricia (Pat) and Reilly (Frank). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Community Room at HallMar Village (8900 C Ave NE, Marion, IA 52302). A Mass was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Chris and Suzy DeWolf Innovation Center (9000 C Ave NE, Marion, IA 52302).
After she completed her terms on the leadership team, she spent the remainder of her active ministry at Mercy Medical Center starting the Family Resource Center and as chair of the Board for the Mercy Endowment Foundation.
