LaVonne Sholes Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of LaVonne Sholes of Marion, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 8, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawrence Leiting and Mary Leiting; her husband Leonard Sholes; and her grandson Brandon Johnston. She is survived by: her sisters, Ruth Drees (Dean), Mary Lou Leahy and Betty Galetich; her daughters, Diana Kloppenborg (Nason) of Lawrence, KS, Janet Jones of Kansas City, MO, Phyllis Johnston (David) of Blue Grass, IA, Linda Hegland of Marion, IA and Lois Strief (Jeff) of Marion, IA; her grandchildren, Erica Creed (David), Brittany Johnston (Justin Ward), Christopher Jones (Allysa), Gabriel Jones, Dakota Johnston, Jeffrey Strief and Justin Hegland; and her great grandchildren, Rilee Ward, Danielle Ward and James Jones.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cedar Memorial Chapel (4200 1st Ave NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St Joseph's Catholic Church (1790 14th St, Marion, IA 52302).
