He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Postel and Velma Postel (Koppes); his siblings, Tom, Beverly and Nancy; his parents-in-law, Lucile Cole and Ransel "Pat" Cole; and his siblings-in-law, Gordon Shaffer, Lynn Serbousek, Doug Morrison, David Cole and Sue Postel.
He is survived by: his wife Mary of Marion; his children, Christopher Postel (Michelle) of Marion and Laura Stolba (Jason) of Anamosa; his grandchildren, Riley Byers (Mackenzie) of Springville, Ty Borseth of Marion and Taniesha Kauten (Lane) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his great grandchildren, Carson, Mason Byers, Xander and Xavier Taylor; his sister Diann Pavelka (Dan) of Lisbon, Iowa; and his sisters-in-law, Lynnette Morrison and Sarah Cole. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A prayer will be held on Tuesday, August 12th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service (3855 Katz Dr, Marion, IA 52302). Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 12th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 13th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Old St. Joseph Church (995 5th Ave, Marion, IA 52302). The military honors will be held on Wednesday, August 13th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Hazel Knoll Cemetery.
