He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter W. and Mary E. Haugen (Norris); and his nephew Brian DeWitt. He is survived by: his siblings, E. Kathleen DeWitt, Dot Haugen, Benjamin Haugen and Max Haugen; his niece Tonia Carabajal; and his nephew Mark Hein.
