He was predeceased by: his parents, William Long and Thelma Long (Ruch); his grandson Dillon Dostal; his son-in-law Jeff "JB" Boelter; his great grandchild Chase Michael Jones; and his brothers, Clair and Kenneth Long.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia; his children, Janet Damman (Dean), Michael Long (Rita), Melinda Dostal and Julie Boelter; his brother Darwin Long; and his sister-in-law Patricia Long. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the New Hope Christian Church (3901 S Center St, Marshalltown, IA 50158). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
