He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Kidder Sprague Jr. and Averill Joy Sprague (Kerr); his sister Sharon Hamilton (Jim); and his daughter Linda Joy Brimmer. He is survived by: his wife Carole Lee Cox of Marshalltown; his children, Melissa Havlik (William) of Cedar Rapids, Stuart Sprague (Fred) of Marshalltown and Stephen Sprague (Paula) of Waterloo; his grandchildren, Jenna, Alysia, Kiera, Ulysses, Bryanna, Chandler, Kennedy, Mikayla, Shawn, Josie, Jack and Joniz; and his nephews, Jim and Scott Hamilton. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Fred's family.
