He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Olani "Lon" Helgen and Lavena Henrietta Branstad Helgen; his former wife Lois Helgen (Wilberg); his son Kurt Helgen; his brother-in-law Charlie O. Peterson; and his nephew Charlie Peterson.
He is survived by: his children, Henry William Helgen Jr. (Kristi Hanson), Lee Helgen (Deb Bahr-Helgen) and Lori Helgen (MN); his wife Irlanda Rodriguez Helgen of Mary's Church; his children, Erika Peterson (Jesse Peterson) and Jacob Hoffman (NE); his grandchildren, Marissa, Grace Helgen (OR), Evan, Luke Helgen (MN), Amira Bartholomew, Ramona Hoffman and Arielle; his brothers, Lanny Peterson (MD) and Lon Helgen (MN); and also, August, Winter and Olive. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
