It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James York of Marshalltown, Iowa, born in Melbourne, Iowa, who passed away on August 10, 2021, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Orval York and Thelma York (Stolzman); his wife Linda; his children, Jan Matheus (Randy) of Richfield, MN, Jennifer York (Jenni) of Ames and David York of Minneapolis, MN; his granddaughter Kayla Matheus; and his siblings, Linda Youngblood (Jim) of Camdenton, MO, Mary Weber (Larry) of Cedar Rapids, Russell York (Jo) of Spokane and Charles "Charlie" York.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Public Library, the Animal Rescue League or the First United Methodist Church, all in Marshalltown.

“My only personal contact with Jim York was on the football field at Conrad in 1956. I will never forget the hardest hit I ever took when Jim ran straight over me. I recovered enough to see him score more than 50 yards on down the field. My respect for Jim York could not be greater and I pray in sympathy with his family. Gerald Wheelock”
