He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis DeVilder and Grace DeVilder (Steiert); his son Danny DeVilder; and his stepchildren, David Spillman, Becky Madison and Debbie Hodson.

He is survived by: his wife Gretchen Schnitzler; his daughters, Sandra Piatt (Cliff) of Hartford and Lori Cronbaugh (Ryan) of Hartwick; his stepchildren, Mike Abrahams (Jodi) of Le Grand, Danny Abrahams of Liscomb, Greg Spillman (Karen) of Marshalltown, Steve Spillman of Marshalltown, Bobby Abrahams (Kathi) of Albion and Kerry Abrahams of Marshalltown; and his siblings, Bill Armstrong (Yvonne) of Deep River and Irene Gercke of Le Grand. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren.
