She was predeceased by: her parents, Raynard B. McGowan and Sybil Young McGowan; her husband Don M. Hayes; her sisters, Eleanor Tjepkes and Rachel Crawford; her daughters, Carol Skov and Patricia "Patty" Nordyke; her grandson Kyle Skov; her great grandchild Averie Isgrig; and her son-in-law Wayne "Gus" Nordyke.
She is survived by: her daughter Ann Isgrig (Jeff); her son-in-law Mike Skov (Grace); her grandchildren, Jonathan Isgrig (Stephanie), Matthew Skov, Ryan Isgrig (Stephannie), Gary Nordyke and Katlin Nordyke Podrasky (Jay); and her great grandchildren, Nolan, Carson, Emmitt, Elliott, Owen, Emma and Josephine.
In honor of Ruth's lifelong dedication to Marshalltown, the family suggests memorials be directed to the Marshalltown First Presbyterian Church, Marshalltown High School (Activities Department), Friends of the Marshalltown Public Library, or Iowa River Hospice.
