It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Ruth Ellen McCoy of Marshalltown, Iowa, who passed away on October 17, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Francis Wilcox Sr. and Sarah Jane Wilcox; her stepmother Martha E. Wilcox; her siblings, Della Mae Wilcox and Charles Francis Wilcox Jr.; and her brothers-in-law, Bob Wiandt and John Davis.
She is survived by: her son Thomas Randall McCoy; her daughter-in-law Jade McCoy; her siblings, Carol Taylor (Grover), Kenny Wilcox (Pat), Wilma Wiandt and Wanda Davis; her grandchildren, Ashley Shaw, Wesley McCoy (Katelyn), Shannon Collum (Zach) and Sarah Triplett (Jacob); her great grandchildren, Sophia McCoy, Lucas McCoy, Lydia Collum, Lily Collum, Matthew Collum, Cooper Triplett and Lucy Triplett; and her nieces, Terry Taylor and Shirley Courtright (Kevin).
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home - Marshalltown (1209 Iowa Ave W, Marshalltown, IA 50158). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location.
She was a member of the Rotary Club of Marshalltown and was designated a Paul Harris Fellow, and was a Gold Knight with the MDRT Foundation. In lieu of memorials, those wishing to honor Ruth's legacy of service and generosity may make donations to the MDRT Foundation, 325 W.
