He was predeceased by: his parents, Boyd McVay and Francis McVay; his grandson Steven McVay; and his siblings, Greg McVay, Bob McVay, Cindy Rames and Tammy Storjohann.

He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Shelly Nielson (Bob), Shane McVay, Seth McVay and Scott McVay (Christina); his grandchildren, Rebecca Lerfald, Rachel Driver, Joey McVay, Jaidyn McVay, Jayce McVay, Sage McVay, Tristen McVay, NeKayla McVay, Draven McVay, Sully McVay and Ta'Liyah McVay; his great grandchildren, Jaxxon, Imayah, Huntlee, Khayton, Katharine, Frances, Ivy and Jasper; and his siblings, Mike McVay, Midge Berens and Mary Ann Rensche (Dan). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
