He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Gavin and Helen Gavin; his brothers, Dale and Charles; and his sister-in-law Pam.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Beck; his children, Jeff Gavin, Dean Gavin (Agi), Amy Gavin, Christy Olson and Lisa Carlson (Dustin); his grandchildren, Mack, Drew, Will, Jordyn, Gage, Paiten, Jensen, Jerry, Jack, Cody, Connor, Alayna, Hayden and Brooks; and his brothers, Don (Joanne), Jim (Dorothy), Bob (Janice), Ben, Frank (Helen) and Dave (Janette). He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Des Moines Izaak Walton League or the Martensdale Fire Department.
