He was predeceased by: his father Robert "Bob" Cates; and his pets, Baxter and Grinch. He is survived by: his mother Frances "Fran" Cates (Jenkins); his sisters, Debbie Foster (William), Jan Helgeson (Kevin) and Cathy Gomez (Tom); his sons, Jason Cates (Melissa) and Joey Cates (Kasie); his close friend Lisa Bauer; and his pet Bocephus. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
