He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton "Charlie" Gettis and Anna Gettis (Johnson); his siblings, Lyle Gettis, Amy Jamtgaard, Marlyce Larsen and Inez Gettis; and his grandson Jeremiah Gettis.
He is survived by: his wife Clara Gettis; his sons, Dennis Gettis (Ann Erickson) and Michael Gettis (Jean Umbarger); his grandchildren, Jonathan Gettis, Andrew Gettis (Alicia), Rachel Gettis (Sidd Owens), Ronya Gettis (Giang Nguyen) and Amy Eiden (Ross); and his great grandchildren, Keira Eiden, Kenna Eiden, Isaac Gettis and Josie Gettis.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 29th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory (111 N Pennsylvania Ave, Mason City, IA 50401). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Major Erickson Funeral Home (111 N Pennsylvania Ave, Mason City, IA 50401). A burial was held on Monday, September 29th 2025 at the Oakland Cemetery (1445 US-69, Forest City, IA 50436).
