She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry "Jake" Bergman and Helen Bergman (Sorensen); her grandson Jacob Andrew Schlei; her brother-in-law Robert E Eden; her nephew Brian Eden; her pets, Ulysses, Killer and Whiskers; and also, Melvin and Veletta Schlei.
She is survived by: her husband Doug Schlei; her pet Romeo; her sons, Andy Schlei (Megan) and Colin Schlei (Audrey); her grandchild Jude Thole; her siblings, Laurie Eden and David Bergman (Sally); her brother-in-law Jeff Schlei (Jennifer); and her siblings' children, Holly Johnson, Ben Bergman, Willie Bergman and Allen Eden.
The family kindly suggests that memorial contributions be made in Diane's name to the Humane Society of North Iowa.
