He was predeceased by : his parents, George Platts and Gertrude Platts (Aldrich); his daughter Barbara Wales; and his brothers, Robert, William and Glenn Platts.

He is survived by : his wife Beverly Lux; his son Dave Platts (Sherri); and his grandchildren, Brandon, Collin Platts, Chelsea Nava (Julian) and Wesley Wales (Cori). He is also survived by three great grandchildren.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the MercyOne North Iowa Hospice Inpatient Unit.
