He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Nelson and Edith Nelson (Halverson); and his brother Eldean Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Nelson; his children, Michael Nelson, Carmen Humburg and Mark Nelson; his grandchildren, Jacob, Lucas Humburg, Erin Dohlman, Elisa Holmes (Ryley) and Emilee Nelson-Reems (AJ Reems); his great grandchildren, Olivia and Jovie Reems; and his sister Betty Nelson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church (213 N Pennsylvania Ave, Mason City, IA 50401). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 at the Memorial Park Cemetery (11495 265th St, Mason City, IA 50401).
