Myrna B. Tangeman Schmelzer Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Myrna B. Tangeman Schmelzer of McGregor, Iowa, who passed away on December 15, 2025 at the age of 86. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Myrna B. Tangeman Schmelzer to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Archie Adney and Adeline Adney (Kamp); her husbands, Fred Tangeman and Gene Schmelzer; her son Timothy Tangeman; her grandsons, Ross and Ryan Wilke; her brother Alton Adney; and her in-laws, Gene Peters and LaVerna Adney.

She is survived by: her children, Greg Tangeman (Kathy), Denise Wilke (Jerry) of Elkader, Brenda Oehlerich of Iowa City and Monica Olmstead (Kevin) of Mount Hope, WI; her grandchildren, Litisha Spies (Justin), Tanya Wolcott (Glenn), Tammy Stanley (Allen), Matthew Wilke (Caitlin Bittner), Kendra Wilke (Mitch Rosburg), Jared Reynolds, Luke Oehlerich (Morgan), Lara Oehlerich, Justice Olmstead and Jasmine Olmstead (Joseph Johnson); her siblings, June Larson (Bernell), Sharon Peters and Allen Adney; and her close friend Bob Bente. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maple Crest Campus, Garnavillo Historical Society, or St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Garnavillo.
