It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dale Shunk of Melrose, Iowa, who passed away on November 28, 2025, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Dale departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Dale. Though Dale may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Jr. Shunk and Avis Shunk (Lance); and his half-sister Patty Kimble (Shunk). He is survived by: his significant other Dee Shunk; his children, Kendra Smith (Rod), Scott Shunk (Billie), Heather Black and Timmy Shunk (Kim); his stepchildren, Tim Kuykendall (Delynn), Jenni Kuykendall (Brandon) and Jason Spray; his brother Gale "Kenny" Shunk (Beckey); and his family Ave. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, several other family members and many good friends.
