He was predeceased by: his parents, William Mealman and Betty Koster Nellis; his brother Bobby Mealman; his stepmother Bonnie; and his nephew Jeremy Erdmann.
He is survived by: his stepchildren, Tammie Timm of Milford and Junior Schiller of Estherville; his siblings, Joe Mealman of Tipton, Iowa, Bill Mealman of Mt. Vernon, Iowa, Bonnie McEachern (Mac) of Lawton, Oklahoma and Kathy Carlson (Rolf) of Milford, Iowa; his cousin Kenny Ewoldt of Fostoria, Iowa; and his stepsisters, Annette Palmer of Henderson, Tina and Sarah Palmer of Mt. Vernon, Iowa. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and many other family members, as well as his cat and dog.
Organ donation was one of Dan's final acts of kindness.
