He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Schaffner and Betty Schaffner (Himler); his grandparents, Art, Alda Himler, Lloyd and Aura Schaffner; and his great-niece Joely Schaffner.
He is survived by: his siblings, Gary Schaffner (Marnita Beal), Stephen Schaffner, Pat Fisher (Arlen), Charlene Oehl, Mary Greene (Bryan) and Deb Grimm (Dave). He is also survived by 21 nieces & nephews, 46 great nieces & nephews and 2 great, great nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Powell Funeral Home (116 W Broad St, North English, IA 52316). A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 10th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Zion Cemetery (143 Rife Rd, Millersburg, PA 17061).
Memorials may be given to the Iowa County Fair in David's honor.
