She was predeceased by: her parents, Milo Nissen and Ethel Nissen (Aikman); her grandfather Milo; her brothers, Larry Nissen and Gary Nissen (Deanna); and her sister-in-law Faye Jensen.
She is survived by: her husband Donald; her daughter Jane; her family Jane; her children, Julie Bowman (David) of Ballwin, Missouri, Tammy Bickel (Ryan) of Urbandale, Tracy McVey (Matthew) and Steven Leib (Kristel); her grandsons, Joshua, Jared and Elijah Bowman of Ballwin, Missouri; her children, Lucas, Ethan, Jonathan Bickel of Urbandale, Isabella, Sophia McVey, Hayden, Bennett and Amelia Leib; and her sisters-in-law, Gail Kallessen and Nancy Grote (Bill). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, special in-laws, friends, and neighbors.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home (5400 SW 9th St, Des Moines, IA 50315). A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Valley Church (4343 Fuller Rd, West Des Moines, IA 50265). A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
The gift of presence is most important, but memorial contributions, if desired, may be directed to Faith Independent Assembly of God Church in loving memory of Jane.
