It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carl Steenhoek of Monroe, Iowa, who passed away on July 10, 2025, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Carl Steenhoek to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Steenhoek and Gertie Steenhoek (Marks); his grandson Matthew Steenhoek; his son-in-law Larry Hartman; his siblings, Harvey Steenhoek (Florence), Gladys Woody (Neil) and Helen Marshall (Robert); his brother-in-law Logan Ver Ploeg; and his friend Beverly Rickabaugh.
He is survived by: his sister Wilma Ver Ploeg; his grandchildren, Marie Lindahl (Nate), David Hartman (Dawn), Erin Church (Jason), Kendra Beckjorden (Ian), Lisa Hilton (Jessica), Melissa Van Der Hart, Garrett Van Der (Paula), Kristina Van Der Hart, Kurt Steenhoek and Joel Steenhoek (Alicia); his great grandchildren, Rachel, Rebekah, Mikayla, Magdelina, William, Wesley, Russell, Brynlee, Addison, Hayden, Bailee, Bella, Breyten, Emma, Paul, Eli, Kynlee, Tucker, Kelsey, Abbi, Taryn, Kenny and Vincent; his great great grandchildren, Broderick, Alexander, Braxton and Briar; and also, Joe and Rose Briggs.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 20th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Monroe United Methodist Church (407 N Monroe St, Monroe, IA 50170). A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 21st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, July 21st 2025 at the Silent City Cemetery.
