With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James M. Hewitt of Monroe, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 23, 2025 at the age of 85. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James M. Hewitt to pay them a last tribute.

As we bid adieu to James' earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in his wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration James has bequeathed us. For though he may have departed from our sight, his spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivyl Joseph and Ethel Leona Hewitt (Rookstool); his wife Patty Joan Kingery; and his brother Edward Eugene Hewitt. He is survived by: his daughter Kelly Phillips (Jim); and his grandsons, Logan James Phillips and Jacob Don Phillips.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Coburn Funeral Home - Monroe (602 N Commerce St, Monroe, IA 50170). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 30th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Monroe United Methodist Church (407 N Monroe St, Monroe, IA 50170).

Memorials may be directed to the Monroe Fire and Rescue, the Monroe United Methodist Church or the Monroe American Legion.
