He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Gorp and Mary Balcerak Van Gorp; his wife Mary Frances of Mary's Catholic Church; his brothers, Donald and Kenneth; his daughter Kathleen; and his son-in-law Harold Hester.
He is survived by: his children, Wayne Van Gorp (Brenda), Diane Kitzmann (Allen), Marveen Behounek (Lyle) and Marchelle Goodman (Mike); and his grandchildren, Nick Hester, Lauren Elliott (Charlie), Austin Hester (Rachel), Steve Smith, Jennifer VanderLeest (Joel), Andy Smith (Tiffany), Kelsey Watts, Ben Arvidson, Andrea Harms (Broc), Luke Goodman and Breck Goodman. He is also survived by 18 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 23rd 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home (201 W Main St, Montezuma, IA 50171). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 23rd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Montezuma American Legion or the Poweshiek County Historical Society in Montezuma.
