We bid farewell to James E. Hunter of Monticello, Iowa, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on April 23, 2024 at the age of 66. James touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by : his parents, Lorraine Hunter (Sternhagen) and Fred Sr. Hunter; his in-laws, Donald, Helen and Jeff Ploessl; and his friend Kevin Kramer.

He is survived by : his spouse Deb; his children, Jessica Hunter of West Branch, Butch Hunter (Stacey) of Lisbon, Jalyse Schwahl (Ryan) of Spanish Fort, AL, Jennifer Hosier (Reggie) of Edgerton, WI, Mikki Manternach (Kraig) of Monticello and Jarod McElmeel (Kiana Secrist) of Monticello; his grandchildren, Jackson, Emersyn, Ethan, Wyatt, Rivington, Sam, Aspen, Riley, Karli and Madyx; his siblings, Fred Jr. (Linda), Steve (Donna), Bob (Deborah), Dave (Dawn), Lana, Paul (Julie) and Don (Wendy); and his in-laws, Joe (Denise), Steve (Pat), Mary, Barb, Larry (Janice) and Bill Ploessl (Lisa). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, May 4th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church - Monticello (302 N Sycamore St, Monticello, IA 52310). A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, May 4th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 4th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (302 N Sycamore St, Monticello, IA 52310).
